    Reporting to the VP, Global Talent Management, the Director, Talent Management Americas role is a critical senior leadership role that leads, develops, and measures the effectiveness of a comprehensive talent strategy for the Americas region and will focus on building and driving talent management solutions that will support Tech Data’s ability to attract, assess, and develop highly engaged individuals and teams in support of Tech Data’s longer term business and workforce strategy.


    Responsible for developing, implementing and maintaining appropriate performance, talent, recognition and succession management solutions.  Designs and implements programs focused on the identification, assessment and development of Tech Data’s leaders in accordance with the organization’s plans and strategies.  Consults with HR VPs and management regarding the planning, development, implementation, and evaluation of talent, performance, recognition and succession management programs.


     This leader will foster a talent mindset; manage and support talent initiatives; and ensures that talent and performance management processes, leadership development, and succession are aligned to meet overall business priorities.


    The 3 critical areas of focus for the Director role will be:

    • Talent calibration, assessment and Succession planning
    • Leadership development & Performance Management
    • Workforce planning, forecasting & workforce optimization


    Essential Duties & Responsibilities Required

    • Develop and drive the execution of Tech Data’s talent management strategies for the Americas region collaborating with business and HR leaders to develop and communicate how talent management supports the corporate strategy through effective Talent Calibration/ Assessment, leadership development, employee engagement, coaching and mentoring, career development, succession planning, and organizational development, which aligns with achieving strategic business goals.
    • Collaborate with our VP, Global Talent Management, the HR Leadership Team and HRBPs on corporate-wide organization development and workforce planning strategies to improve performance of our talent.
    • Partner with HRBPs and business leaders to actively identify and diagnose business needs and deliver customized, appropriate solutions that support leadership and team effectiveness, organizational design and alignment, and change management.
    • Play a lead, liaison role in translating long term organizational capability requirements and understanding of critical roles into the talent review and leadership succession planning process.
    • Perform analyses and identify metrics to track workforce planning, succession planning and talent management outcomes in partnership with our HR analytics team
    • Works with global talent management team to deploy talent strategies and programs.
    • Executes Talent Development processes, programs, practices and tools for the Americas region
    • Identifies and utilizes resources to assess current and prospective talent to meet the needs of the business.
    • Identifies key roles with bench strength targets, supported by actionable development plans to ensure pipeline readiness.
    • Partners with field leadership to identify, recommend and track the completion of appropriate development activities for talent in the early in career, leadership pipeline and invest and grow talent categories.
    • Performs the research, development, implementation, and maintenance of strategic talent and workforce development initiatives.
    • Provides consulting to HR VPs and management for succession planning and executive development in line with the strategic business direction.
    • Manages talent and performance management communication and establishes and monitors effectiveness measures.

    Work Experience: 

    • 12+ years including 7+ years of management experience 
    • Experience working in global matrix environment
    • Experience in designing and developing talent management solutions including leadership development curriculum, succession planning processes, performance management, recognition programs
    • Led a diverse and senior talent management consulting team
    • Experience partnering with senior leadership to identify successors, establish and manage individual leadership development plans and establishing internal talent pipelines to remediate any successor gaps
    • Successful management of employee development initiatives to include establishment of development opportunities across a wide spectrum of delivery vehicles.  Implementation and utilization of a global learning management system to enhance program effectiveness and link results to succession/high potential planning efforts
    • Development and implementation of employee engagement surveys/pulse surveys and instruments, including conducting data analysis and working with management and employees to translate that analysis into actionable initiatives or interventions too improve engagement.
    • Experience collaborating with various HR disciplines including HR business partners, talent acquisition and various levels of management as the situations arrives
    • Ability to execute firm-wide initiatives with excellence in a fast paced, global collaborative environment and commitment to innovation and continuous improvement


    Education and Certification(s): 

    • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience
