  • Overview


    The Sr. Manager, SEC & Technical Research provides global oversight of technical U.S. GAAP accounting matters.  Responsibilities include; Reviewing complex routine and non-routine transactions, including contracts, to identify potential U.S. GAAP issues and to determine the appropriate accounting for the identified issues.  Involvement with accounting areas including, but not limited to, revenue recognition, purchase accounting, transfers of financial assets, accounting for consideration received from vendors, and the adoption of new accounting pronouncements.  Developing training programs on various U.S. GAAP matters and delivering training to worldwide finance personnel. 


    Essential Duties & Responsibilities Required

    • Review new contracts for proper revenue recognition and identification of potential accounting issues, including presentation of revenues on a gross or net basis 
    • Identify and resolve the Company’s technical accounting issues in relation to various transactions, including, but not limited to, acquisitions and transfers of financial assets, by researching, evaluating and preparing well-documented position papers.  Additionally, interact with external auditors on technical accounting issues and support quarterly and annual reviews by external auditors.
    • Monitor the activities of accounting standard setting bodies (SEC, FASB, AICPA, etc.) and prepare operational/financial impact assessments of proposed and adopted accounting standards
    • Presents conclusions on proper accounting treatment to internal senior management, including the SVP, Corporate Controller, as well as external auditors
    • Update/implement accounting policies and procedures to respond to changes in the Company’s business, SEC/GAAP regulations and SOX 404 requirements
    • Prepare and present training and other presentations on a variety of accounting topics to worldwide finance personnel
    • Lead a team of 2-4 individuals
    • Participate on ad-hoc projects
    • Additional duties as assigned

    Qualifications, Required Knowledge Skills & Abilities and Working Conditions

    Previous Work Experience:

    • 7-10 years of increasingly responsible accounting and reporting experience
    • Big 4 certified public accounting firm and/or large SEC registrant experience strongly preferred
    • Demonstrated clear proficiency in technical accounting research


    • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance
    • MBA a plus
    • CPA Required
