  • Overview

    Develops and grows Tech Data market share in the assigned market or technology segment. Conducts market research in order to profile customers/vendors and determine revenue potential. Works closely with Product Marketing, Marketing Services, Sales and Tech Support to achieve established Company objectives.


    This position is located in Austin, TX

    Essential Duties & Responsibilities Required

    • Conducts market research, profiles customers/vendors, makes presentations and participates in sales calls and marketing events to establish customers and determine market segment revenue potential.
    • Develops strategic business plans and presents quarterly business reviews to management and vendors.
    • Researches market conditions to determine potential sales of assigned technology products.
    • Calls on potential customers and vendors, develops and coordinates sales presentations and secures prospect commitments on TD Volume Purchase Agreements.
    • Assumes an advising role and leverages advanced technological expertise to achieve specific sales goals in the assigned market.
    • Negotiates, reviews and analyzes all new vendor contracts from inception to final completion, maximizing profitability and ensuring contract compliance as required.
    • Evaluates competitive information, offerings and customer perspectives.
    • Participates, develops and/or supports Tech Data advanced technologies market activities, trade shows & events as assigned.
    • Develops and implements marketing and sales strategy for securing and/or increasing market share, sales and profit.
    • Keeps Management informed by submitting activity and results reports, such as daily call reports, weekly work plans and monthly/quarterly financial analyses.
    • Maintains current company, customer, technical and professional knowledge.
    • Meets attendance and punctuality standards

    Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required:

    • Build solid, effective working relationships with others.
    • Constructively work under stress and pressure when faced with high workloads and deadlines.
    • Create and conduct formal presentations.
    • Able to use relevant computer system applications (which may include spreadsheets, word processors, databases, etc) at a basic level.
    • Negotiate skillfully, promote/sell ideas persuasively, and close transactions with mutually beneficial results.
    • Prepare/analyze appropriate reports and other business correspondence.
    • Possesses strong organizational and time management skills, driving tasks to completion.
    • Engage and build relationships at all levels within an organization.  Ability to deliver Tech Data value within any relevant conversation to help build valuable strategies with customer sales representatives, Sales Managers, Directors and Vendor Partners.
    • Working knowledge of navigating pricing and processes for key vendor partners – including but not limited to Apple, HP INC, HPE, Dell and Cisco.
    • Navigate and build key relationships through all levels of Tech Data -  including but not limited to Sales, Product Marketing, Mobility, Purchasing, TDCC, Logistics, Integration, STG and Promo Ops.
    • Ability to present to and train large groups of people on Tech Data value, Tech Data organizational navigation and the Tech Data website. 
    • Required Educational: High School/G.E.D.*Able to maintain confidentiality of senstitive information.
