  • Overview

    Our Microsoft Cloud team is expanding and we are looking for someone who can provide recommendations on the configuration and design of system solutions with a broad understanding of IT ecosystems/environments with an emphasis on public Cloud via phone/email support and direct customer engagement. This person will need to demonstrate advanced presentation skills, promote product sales through demonstrations and trainings, and will serve as an advanced subject matter expert for the line or technology. They will also partner with sales, product marketing and customers to drive adoption & increase sales of assigned product line/technology, and act as a Team Leader and escalation point to Solutions Engineers by providing guidance, onboarding and mentoring.

    Essential Duties & Responsibilities Required

    Presales phone, email and face to face technology support- 50-70%;

    • Provides courteous, professional solution design support via telephone and email to internal and external customers for assigned vendor or technology. 
    • Serves as escalation point and technical subject matter expert to team members and customers for assigned area of responsibility. 
    • Works with stakeholders in sales and technical teams to ensure alignment with vendor goals and objectives. 

    Training and Certification of Self 5-10%:  

    • Focuses training efforts on earning advanced certifications that are relevant to the assigned line or technology.
    • Validates and maintains Tech Data's compliance with Vendor-established training requirements by earning certs in line with goal. 
    • Takes responsibility for tracking/reporting attainment, plans and proactively meets or exceeds compliance standards/requirements. 

    Tech Relationship Mgmt./Sales & Pipeline Engagement- 25%  

    • Technology champion/advocate who inspires adoption in the partner community. 
    • Provides technical leadership to the partner community. Actively participates in development of the customers' technical competency/acumen by providing support and guidance for training, demo capabilities, and familiarization with tools and online resources.
    • Proactive outreach to include follow up on open pipeline opportunities, offering customers assistance with end user discovery calls, exploration of technology calls.
    • Advocates and drives use of solution center for customer briefings and demos. 
    • Participates in trade shows and events to support customer engagement activities.

     

    Qualifications, Required Knowledge Skills & Abilities and Working Conditions

    Education

    •  Associate Degree in technology discipline, Business or Technical Degree Required or 7 years of relevant work experience with a college degree.

    Certifications

    • Major certs - AWS sales and technical accreditations and minimum AWS Practioner.  Preferably AWS Associate Architect certification.  Other major cloud provider certifications may be accepted.

    Experience

    • 7+ years industry sales experience in creating and delivering BoM's with SoW's preferred.
    • Strong problem solving and troubleshooting skills with the ability to pre-sell a solution. 
    • Must have strong technical background for task execution, problem solving, deep analytic thinking capabilities.

     

    Knowledge, Skills, and/or Abilities Required

    • Exemplify Team leader characteristics
    • Direction from Management and will work closely with other Senior technical staff
    • Basic understanding of ROI concepts, Comparative Analysis, and Market Trends.  50-70% of time dedicated to heavy focus on solutions based conversations with stakeholders and influencing sales
    • Self Education approximately 5%-10%, must maintain certifications, and specific vendor knowledge
    • Has well-developed, specific knowledge of vendor-supplied tools in support of assigned technology practice area.
    • Contributes support and subject matter expertise in development of special projects, e.g. new offerings, engagement strategies, etc. 
    • Stays current with longer sales cycle opportunities, ensuring that design elements are correct and proactively following up to influence closure.
    • Is considered the subject matter expert, and provides solutions to complex or escalated situations.
    • Has advanced level understanding of design and configuration requirements within assigned technology practice area or vendors' product line.
    • Partner internally and externally to provide solutions.  Anticipates potential problems with solutions, acts as a proactive resource to the reseller to ensure accuracy, consistency and excellence in design and support.
    • Strong command of English language, verbal (phone) and written (email) skills
    • Create/deliver formal presentations
    • Strong understanding of data center nomenclature. 
    • Will contribute to Product/Technology Advocacy communication channels with authoritative, informative, practical written content to be posted on various Tech Data outlets. 
    • Will provide short-form, non-certification based  on-demand training to resellers on a regular basis to advance sales understanding within the partner community.  
    • KPI's may be measured in revenue dollars (e.g. shared team revenue goals),  Call Volumes, Quote volumes, Reporting of weekly/monthly activities, number of partner engagements, certifications, number of escalations, Product/Technology Advocacy engagement strategies (Blogs, White Papers) and training sessions (attended/given)
    • Additional duties as assigned
    • Meets attendance and punctuality standards

    Travel

    • 20-30%  for TD Events, training, and customer work-sites
