Performs analysis of Telecom related needs and contributes to design of Telephony architecture, integration, and installation. Servers as senior technical resource for organization to insure effective and efficient telecommunications infrastructure. Responsibilities include the design of voice solutions utilizing telecom systems and environments, which include hardware, software, access methods, and protocols used. Defines the method of control, future flexibility, and connectability. Assists with defining global strategy for a broad range of voice and data network technologies including PBX, IVR, VOIP, call center solutions, call distribution, public/private access methods, communication protocols and standards. Maintains corporate compliance with established standards and practices. Provides Consultative services for US, Latin America, and European initiatives.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities Required

  • Performs the installation, maintenance, and retirement of telecommunications infrastructure which includes PBX, gateways, servers, peripherals, network nodes, terminals, and wiring.
  • Evaluates telecom infrastructure and capabilities to make recommendations for capacity planning and technology refreshes or direction changes.
  • Serves as a mentoring resource for the telecom Infrastructure and the implemented configuration that support operations. 
  • Performs and designs monitoring platforms to capture telecom infrastructures health and performance to insure network stability. 
  • Performs tier 3 network troubleshooting and repair. 
  • Communicates and coordinates telecom downtime and service windows with Shared Services Teams. 
  • Coordinates third-party maintenance for telecom hardware, software, and telecommunications services. 
  • Prepares and maintains telecom infrastructure documentation of topology, device/system configurations and cabling layouts. 
  • Assists in the negotiations and procurement of all associated technical hardware, software and equipment needed to support infrastructure. This includes the service providers, PBX, IVR, converged voice, remote services, and call center systems. 
  • Proactively researches and locates the necessary tools and processes to identify troublesome trends; analyzes trends and develops a long-range plan designed to resolve problems and prevent them from recurring; maintains established service levels, establishes a method to compare project objectives /requirements against actual project performance. 
  • Responsible for all inbound call traffic to the Call Center, maintenance of all T1/PRI connections, dial-peer configurations for inbound and outbound calling. Maintains a complex network to support a Call Center system infrastructure. 
  • Develops test plans (including cases for functionality, integrity, and stress testing; tests matrixes; and definition of test methodologies and test strategy); responsible for the creation of test platforms, including evaluation of test equipment and designing test networks; develops automated test suites for product regression and stress testing. 
  • Participates in various IT projects intended to continually improve/upgrade the telecommunications infrastructure; for example, evaluates new software and hardware required to meet a business need or to make a process more cost effective. 
  • Participates in the organizations Service Management disciplines (Incident, Problem, and Change Management) to insure compliance and maintain service level commitments to end-users. Identifies opportunities and recommends solutions for improving service efficiency and effectiveness; participates in IT initiatives to address service issues; keeps abreast of technical aspects of the PC-LAN/WAN computing environment; has a working knowledge of department-specific applications; attends seminars and other educational opportunities; seeks out insight and on-the-job training from peers and other internal and external resources. 
  • Designs, configures, installs, and maintains necessary telecom hardware and software to provide a suitable environment to run production applications and perform development; performs maintenance and release upgrades on a timely basis or as needed; monitors performance and availability of telecom platforms. 
  • Develops/follows procedures for LAN/WAN administration (e.g., security, reliability). 
  • Recommends standards and guidelines. Recommends/selects specific products as necessary, participating in tool and vendor evaluations. 
  • Participates in and contributes to task forces and special projects initiated within departments/divisions. 
  • Provides project management responsibility for telecommunications implementations, including creating schedules, test plans, assigning tasks, and ensuring projects are completed on time and on budget. 
  • Researches/assesses available telecommunications technologies in relation to the enterprise's current and future needs. 
  • Recommends specific products and platforms based on business requirements.
  • Research of new technologies and practices. 
  • Continually works to insure cost savings in all voice communications areas.
  • Performs additional duties as assigned

Qualifications, Required Knowledge Skills & Abilities and Working Conditions

The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.




  • 3 plus years of Cisco voice experience 
  • Cisco certifications preferred (CCNA required, CCNP/CCIE highly desired)
  • Experience deploying and implementing cisco voice solutions
  • Experience working in a Avaya and Cisco environment highlypreferred
  • UCCX/UCCE scripting experience preferred
  • Ability to build solid, effective working relationships with others.
  • Analyze and resolve complex issues and problems in a sound and timely fashion.
  • Constructively work under stress and pressure when faced with high workloads and deadlines.
  • Adjust readily to change and adapt as needed. Able to transport up to 50 lbs.
  • Express ideas clearly and convey necessary information. Able to quickly learn new systems and technology.
  • Ability to read blueprints, technical journals and other technical documents
  • Serve as a resource to others in the resolution of complex problems and issues.
