Overview

 

The primary objective of this position is to lead and participate in initiatives to improve processes and methods that drive operational excellence.  Performs industrial and process evaluation, improvement and/or re-engineering in support of Logistics Center Operations, Configuration & Integration Operations and related supply chain activities.  Conducts evaluations and analyses on key warehouse operating metrics, such as throughput, capacity, storage types and quantities, etc.   Supports analysis and plans for new business proposals’ effect on Logistics.  Manages network-wide issues like capital spending, equipment utilization, systems and applications.

 

Essential Duties & Responsibilities Required

 

  • Leads engineering projects at the network level as well as at the individual logistics centers.  
  • Provides thought leadership on cross functional projects with   management, customers and other departments to improve quality, productivity and utilization.
  • Maintains consistent practices in   development, documentation and implementation of improved work methods,   processes and procedures. 
  • Ensures consistent practices in the development, documentation and    implementation of engineered productivity and work standards.  
  • Maintains consistent work/method studies and develops appropriate reporting and recommendations.  
  • Applies LEAN methodologies    to identify, support and lead process variation, continuous improvement and    waste reduction projects. 
  • Conducts capacity and utilization analysis for inventory management and allocation planning for the Logistics     Centers and network. 
  • Executes material handling engineering studies to support required specifications, evaluation and selection.  
  • Responsible for ergonomic and safety engineering studies for all processes and activities within the logistics centers.
  • Conducts engineering design/redesign activities for existing facilities, expansions and/or new facilities. 
  • Additional duties as assigned.
  • Meets attendance & punctuality standards.

Previous Work Experience:

  • Minimum of five (5) years relevant experience improving processes and systems in a distribution center environment, as well as operations research and statistics; eight (8) years preferred.

 

Education/Certifications:

  • Preferred: Master’s Degree in Engineering
  • Required: Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering
  • Other education/certifications: Lean, Six Sigma or other process improvement certification
