Directs and oversees all Logistics and Inventory Accounting functions for North America including inventory accounting, supply chain accounting, freight accounting, and related operational accounting processes and risk management. Actively manages key responsibilities of approximately 75 professional staff and clerical team members performing a variety of operational and financial accounting duties. Engages, energizes and inspires staff to work together to maximize performance towards common goals and objectives. Oversees and ensures production of timely and accurate financial statements. Demonstrates a thorough knowledge of Accounting principles and practices and the ability to understand, research and resolve accounting issues. Develops and implements new ideas for strengthening internal controls, reducing risks and costs, improving cash flow, and improving efficiency within the organization. Requires significant management experience (8 plus years), higher education, and may require public accounting experience. Needs to balance and meet needs of multiple client groups and conflicting priorities. Needs to provide guidance to operational business units while maintaining an adequate control environment. Must exhibit strong business acumen as well as financial acumen and strong people skills with the ability to interact effectively at all levels. Must have the ability to adapt and work within a fast-paced environment. Reports to the Vice President - Americas Controller. Must be able to back up the Controller as needed.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities Required

  • Ensures production of timely and accurate financial information and demonstrates a thorough knowledge of TD accounting issues, treatment, key accounts and risk areas.
  • Enhances management reporting and support provided to other TD departments in order to maximize value provided by accounting to operating departments.
  • Minimizes financial risk and exposure by developing and implementing enhanced account analysis and reconciliation.
  • Demonstrates a through understanding of all department procedures, systems and critical issues.
  • Evaluates processes and procedures to identify opportunities for reducing risk, improving controls and increasing staff efficiency to reduce costs.
  • Directs day-to-day activities of the inventory accounting, supply chain accounting, and freight accounting staffs and ensure they are focusing on critical support processes.
  • Provides coaching and development to departmental members to ensure all staff has appropriate skills to perform work functions and to retain high quality human resources. Meets attendance and punctuality standards

  • Bachelors degree required. MBA preferred. CPA preferred. 
  • Minimum of 5-7 years of professional experience required.
