Overview

As a member of the Global Project Portfolio Team, drives the planning, producing, scheduling, and facilitating of a quarterly global IT project prioritization process resulting in a single globally funded IT project portfolio in support of Tech Data’s strategic initiatives.  Helps lead the corporate decision-making process on a world-wide basis for selecting, optimizing and executing projects based on the organization’s strategic plan, budget and available resources.  Oversees the administrative activities in the project / financial tracking tool by collaborating with IT Management to ensure projects and work efforts are entered into project tracking tool and effectively managed throughout the work efforts life cycle.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities Required

  • Drives the planning, producing, scheduling, facilitating and supporting a quarterly global IT project prioritization process. Activities involved include supervising the resource planning process, merging the regional portfolios to create a global portfolio pipeline, overseeing the portfolio tracker inputs /outputs, aligning the final workplan with IT Finance, and producing quality portfolio status reports.
  • Responsible for project portfolio modeling creating an optimal mix and sequencing of proposed projects  and performs analysis to formulate the most optimal portfolio for the organization.
  • Interacts with the portfolio communities, with a primary focus on the business community, to ensure understanding of processes, standardization of methodologies, execution and project reporting through intimate collaboration and continuous process improvement.
  • Brings forth the ability to influence others through partnership as well as analytic, problem solving, communication and negotiation skills to the benefit of the business, to aid the development of the worldwide project portfolio. 
  • Plans, organizes, assigns, oversees and evaluates the work of one to three team members to ensure the attainment of divisional goals and the adherence to the company shared values.
  • Facilitates and leads virtual project management community, drives best practices,  and consistent tool set and prices amongst project managers and
  • Owns global and regional scoping process efforts to move business requests through the IT process to estimate project efforts.
  • Additional duties as assigned

Qualifications, Required Knowledge Skills & Abilities and Working Conditions

Previous Work Experience:

 

  • 5-7 years working with formal project management lifecycle disciplines. Experience in software development and risk management
  • 3 years supervisory/managerial experience preferred
  • Previous international experience / collaboration preferred
  • Preferred PMO experience including dashboard reporting and understanding of various Systems Development Life Cycles (SDLC).
  • Portrays an outstanding ability to successfully gather organizational consensus, requiring them to have a solid professional demeanor, positive attitude, and business credibility. Advanced interpersonal skills, including oral, written, facilitation, mediation, collaboration, diplomacy and presentation, as well as ability to communicate effectively with stakeholders at all levels of the organization.

 

Education/Certifications:

  • Master's Degree Preferred
  • Bachelor's Degree Required
  • Certifications- PMP or PMI certified in Project Management with IT discipline preferred
